Loveland, Colorado's well known musician,
vocalist, actress and vocal coach is again showcasing her unique collection of
art creations.
Being a performer who has always reached for
quality and her own style, Mary is applying her same ethic to her art. Mary's
father was an artist and musician who instilled in her to do the best in all
her endeavors. ""I'm not stopping everything else"", Zimmerman
says, ""I'm adding to the list"".
Specializing in just one style has never been
Mary's forte. Diversity however has. Her art encompasses watercolor, charcoal
drawings, scherenschnitte, folk art, mixed media, abstract, landscapes,
contemporary and eclectic pieces. "This type of expression has been
with me a long while"", Zimmerman says. Zimmerman got interested in
art several years ago after moving to Colorado. "I live to learn, laugh and
care.""
Artist Interview!
What
is your favorite medium to work with? In my work I like to work with several
mediums per piece but not always.
What
cheers you up? Jokes that don't
belittle people. Jokes that are just funny.
Which
of the four seasons do you love the most and why?
Mid
spring thru June. Not too hot, not too cold and the cold and flu
season is over for the most part and the pollens have settled down.
Describe
your studio in less than 5 words: A
part of me
What
is your favorite part about your studio? Space. I have a great husband who has
literally let me take over the basement. When I get stuck I can jog for
10min. or play a song then get back to my art.
Did
you go to art school or are you self taught? I am self taught. I have attended
classes every now and then for a few years now.
How
did you become an artist? I
had to. After many years in music and acting I felt a void. I was
lucky enough to find that art raises me up. Now it too is one of my
children.
Where
is your favorite spot in Loveland and why?
Any part of Loveland where I can see the mountains and the sky is
beautiful to me. We are lucky, we have many spots in this town.
If
you could interview one person in the world, who would it be? Martin Luther King Jr. He wasn't
perfect as no one is, but he left a legacy for all races to learn from. I
hope it isn't lost as time goes by.
